Assistant/Associate Professor (Periodontology) – Academic Faculty

Oman Dental College (ODC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Full-Time Assistant/Associate Professor in Periodontology. This role combines didactic, clinical and research supervision responsibilities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of excellence in dental education, clinical training and research output at ODC.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars and case-based learning sessions in Periodontology to BDS and postgraduate students.
- Supervise and mentor students during clinical training in Periodontology, ensuring safe, evidence-based practice.
- Guide undergraduate and postgraduate students in the development and execution of scientific research projects.
- Participate in the continuous review and enhancement of the Periodontology curriculum in alignment with international standards (e.g., ADEE).
- Serve as an examiner and contribute to the assessment and evaluation of students.
- Engage in ongoing research activity and contribute to ODC’s academic output through publications and conference presentations.
- Support the College’s commitment to community oral health initiatives and outreach programmes.
- Fulfil administrative responsibilities associated with teaching, research, and committee membership.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Educational:
- BDS (or equivalent)
- MClinDent (Periodontology) and Membership in Periodontology (e.g., MPerio)
- or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with US/Canadian Board Certification in Periodontology
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in clinical practice
- At least 3 years of academic teaching in a higher education institution
- Proven experience in supervising postgraduate students and conducting academic assessments
- Demonstrated scholarly activity including peer-reviewed research publications
Licensing Requirement:
- Eligible for professional licensure by the Ministry of Health (MoH), Sultanate of Oman
Desirable Attributes
- PhD in Periodontology or a related dental discipline
- Fellowship or equivalent recognition from an international professional body
- Familiarity with curriculum development aligned to international accreditation standards (e.g., ADEE, OAAAQA)
