ODC Organises an International Orthodontic Symposium

  • Posted by
  • Date January 20, 2020

Oman Dental College organised an International Orthodontic symposium on January 17th and 18th 2020 titled “Non-Surgical Treatment for Facial and Occlusal Restructuring” that was conducted by Professor Kee Joon Lee, Chairperson, Department of Orthodontics, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.

The event was organised by the orthodontic team at Oman Dental College led by Dr P S Viswapurna, Specialist Orthodontist and Head of Clinical Services and was approved by the Oman Medical Speciality Board for Continuing Professional Development credits.

More than 40 participants from different part of the world attended the two-day symposium including registrants from the UAE, Bahrain, Doha, Iran, Lebanon and India. There was also an exhibition of relevant orthodontic products from a range of international suppliers on the sidelines of the symposium.

The symposium focused on the latest advances in clinical orthodontics for the non-surgical approach to the management of skeletal discrepancies and to the pattern and amount of correction possible for these conditions. In addition to addressing appropriate biomechanics for desired tooth movement, the symposium also considered the rationale for radical tooth movement based on the soft tissue paradigm where effective facial change can be maximized without surgery.
