Assistant/Associate Professor in Dentistry (Research Focus)

Oman Dental College (ODC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position with a primary focus on advancing research activities across the College. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic academic with a strong background in in managing externally funded projects, supervising postgraduate research, and leading interdisciplinary translational research. The role also includes teaching responsibilities related to applied dental materials and digital dentistry, with emphasis on research methodology, scientific writing, and material science. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the College’s research agenda, whilst contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate research initiatives across the College, including grant writing, project execution, and dissemination of research findings
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and support thesis development.
• Manage and oversee research laboratory operations , including chemical, mechanical, and cellular testing.
• Deliver high-quality teaching in dental materials, digital technologies, and research methodology.
• Mentor junior faculty and students, fostering a vibrant and sustainable research culture.
• Promote and lead interdisciplinary translational research aligned with ODC’s strategic objectives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• A dental qualification (BDS or equivalent) with a PhD in Dental Materials, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field from an internationally recognised and reputable institution.
• Experience in laboratory-based research, particularly involving chemical, mechanical, and cellular testing.
• Proven track record of supervising postgraduate research students and guiding successful thesis development.
• Demonstrated success in securing and managing external research funding.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals.
• Familiarity with digital dentistry technologies and their applications in research and education..
• A postgraduate qualification in education, leadership or management is preferred.
